About Dever Springs

Dever Springs is situated beside the River Dever (a tributary of the legendary River Test), a big-fish water where many 20 lbs.-plus Rainbows and Browns are taken each season.

The fishery comprises two spring fed lakes totalling six acres and a half a mile stretch of the River Dever.

The lakes are well established, abounding with aquatic fly life, which includes an abundant Mayfly hatch in each season.

These crystal clear waters enabled discerning anglers to stalk exceptional fish.

Specimen fish taken at Dever include a British Record Rainbow of 36-lbs. 14 oz and a Brown of 28 lbs. 2 oz.

The minimum stocking size is 3 lbs., with 5lbs being average. Every angler coming to Dever Springs has a very real chance of taking double-figure fish.

The lakes are stocked each day with top quality trout most of which are reared within the complex.

Anglers are welcome to look around the numerous stock ponds, and by appointment can view the high-tech 'Jurassic Pond' where perfect trout regularly attain enormous sizes ready to dictate tomorrow's record lists.

Car parking is adjacent to the Clubhouse where the ticket office/shop, weighing point, vending machine and toilet facilities can be found. Comprehensive selections of flies and sundry tackle, rod hire, plus cold smoked trout services, are always available.

Enquiries for catering and tuition are welcome. Please ask when contacting the office.

Rods are strictly limited, and prior booking (Day Tickets 4 fish) is recommended (Summer Season: 3rd April - 31st October only). Half Day (3 fish) and evening (2 fish) tickets are available on the day, subject to bookings already received. Winter Season - 1st November to 2nd April - any ticket can be booked in advance, for Rainbows only, subject to availability.

If a bag limit is reached, further ticket(s) may be purchased if required.

Dever Spring Fishery Rules - Lakes

1. a. Spring Lake: Floating Line Only. Single wet or dry fly - NO LURES.

b. Willow Lake: Sinking or Floating Line. Any single fly method.

c. Maximum hook size No. 8, dressed length not to exceed one inch.

d. Use of less that 6 lb point breaking stran prohibited (under normal conditions)

e. All fish caught MUST be retained. NO KEEP NETS.

Dever Spring Fishery Rule - River

2. a. Dry fly and upstream nymph, one fly only

b. Maximum hook size No. 12, NO long shank nymphs

c. No wading under any circumstances.

d. Catch-and-release option, provided ticket still held (ie: 1 fish still to catch).

e. All trout under 12 inches must be returned.
